Barry Payne & The Long Shadows
Barry Payne & the Long Shadows are a North London rock & roll band that draw influence from a heady mix of proto-punk powerpop, americana and gypsy folk all shaken up with a dash of glam rock. Centred around former Wreckless Eric and Eileen Rose bassist, Barry Payne, they have been igniting stages across London and the South East with a hi-octane set of well crafted, passionate and melodic songs that have gained comparisons to The Replacements, The Clash and even Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance.
A veteran of late 70's period Stiff records and with a long history as a session musician within the counterculture, Barry Payne takes up the mantle of front man with ease. His songs are accessible and infectious, yet packed with razor sharp attitude as he writes from his personal experiences of growing up in a jaded seaside town and about love, lust and loss and the often destructive nature of the human condition.
Shortly to go into the studio to start laying down tracks for a debut album. It's a good time to catch them live!
